The infestor is a ground support unit which is capable of moving while burrowed and even using abilities from underground. Like many zerg ground units, the infestor can burrow. However, the infestor can move while burrowed, enabling it to travel underneath defensive structures and use its abilities from within a base. Special abilities can be used from underground. It moves more slowly when burrowed.
Infestors cannot burrow underneath buildings, not even pylons.Pylons project a strong magnetic field which makes the ground beneath them impenetrable by "mortal means".
Disease does weaken units in an area but does not actually kill units.
The neural Parasite controls another player's unit for a short time.
Units maintain their upgrades and special ability while controlled by the zerg.
A controlled worker can build structures, though this is challenging the way SCVs build terran structures. The player can use Neural Parasite on the SCV again, however.
A controlled critter switches to your side (and is targeted by the enemy).
Even massive robots like the colossus can be controlled.
Spawn Infested marines-
Creates five infested marines from eggs on the infestor's back. These eggs are thrown to the ground and quickly hatch.
Infestation-
Enables infestors to taint structures, disabling them and spawning infested marines from them.
Fungal Scourge-
This ability infests a single non-massive unit, causing it to take damage until it dies explosively (causing splash damage to nearby units).
